We are the pioneer in operating a western food stall in a hawker
centre. In 1971, the late master chef Leong rented a stall in Tanglin
Halt Food Centre. In front of the curious crowd, he would grill-pan his
meat and finished them off with charcoal grill. Within just a few
months his customer base grew and he decided to get a stall of his own
at Commonwealth Crescent Food Centre.
After recovering from serious burns in 1976, he relocated to the
present Commonwealth Avenue Cooked Food Centre which is along Margaret
Drive. A special brown sauce that he has created in his twenties -
during a tenure as head chef in the British Navy, is a great hit with
the locals and foreigners.
We are his second generation cooks. The late master chef Leong's original recipe has not been altered or
changed one single bit since early 70s!
